Do you know the most common injuries in gymnastics?
Gymnasts spend more time on their hands compared with their feet.
Because of this, injuries to the wrists, elbows and shoulders are fairly common. Male athletes are particularly susceptible to overuse injuries because of the apparatuses they use. Still, the most common injuries are acute injuries to the ankles and knees, typically occurring during landings. Landings can also lead to overuse complaints to the Achilles tendons, heal and knee. Gymnasts are also at risk of low back pain and stress fractures, especially in the spine. All of these factors mean that it is a good idea to do prevention exercise training!
