Do you know the most common injuries in athletics?
The most common injury in athletics is an acute injury to the hamstrings.
Hamstring strains typically happen within the more explosive disciplines, such as sprints, hurdling and jumps. Overuse injuries are common across all athletics disciplines and are often caused by poor technique or motor skills, in many cases combined with overtraining and a lack of rest. The Achilles tendon, knee, lower legg, and low back are particularly vulnerable.
Throwers frequently sustain ankle sprains, but the shoulder and low back are also vulnerable to injury.
