Do you know the most common injuries in golf?
Recreational and professional players experience different injuries, but overuse injuries are most common in both groups.
Elite level golfers are able to reproduce their swing with extreme precision time and time again. This can actually increase the risk of injury due to repetitive stress. The wrist and hip are often affected.
A development in equipment and playing technique has led to players hitting the ball further than ever. The golf swing is powerful and puts a lot of force through the spine. This may explain why some players at the top level have back pain related issues. Those issues are also common among recreational players, but probably due to other reasons such as not warming up before playing and having a bad swing technique.
