Do you know the most common injuries in biathlon?
The injuries that occur most frequently in cross-country skiing are mainly related to overuse.
Most of the injuries often occur outside of the competitive season, but can last long enough to affect performance ability in competition. It is very important to gradually increase your training loads, especially if you switch from one activity form to another. A previous injury increases your risk of reinjury, so it is best to avoid injuries altogether.
In periods with high training loads and saturated competition calendars, athletes are more likely to experience back problems. This is thought to be related to a lot of repetitive movements in the lower back, where pain is most commonly felt.
Knee pain is not uncommon, and is usually related to overuse injuries due to running training.
